The Old Shades (Les Vieilles Ombres) is situated in the ancient village of Bagnizeau, which derives its name from the fact that around here, 2000 years ago, the Roman legions used the banks of the River Antenne as a natural bathing area.
Nowadays you can wander down to the 11th century Norman church, use the village’s impressive Boules court or fish and walk along the river which bounds the village. For the more energetic this is great area for cycling or even just a gentle stroll through the vines and fields of various crops.
